I'll keep doing my homework on the EX4 - we can get them relative cheap here in Canada fortunately.

Default Ex4

I had the ex 4 running 4 sets of 6.5s. Each pair had a channel; wired in parallel down to a two ohm load. It had more than enough power to push each set. Not sure of the exact number it’s putting out. But it’s got power and sounds good doing it.

Yep, definitely found a place in Calgary AB that had no problem repairing my SD 2400.4. Fairly quick turnaround, I think it cost me around $225. Been working fine since.
Always a tough call spending big money on gear up here in Canada, but it's the price we pay regardless. We lose on the dollar, we get hit with duty/taxes, and we get hit with shipping.
I have pretty much just learned to live with it. That being said, I make the odd trip to the US on holidays, so I usually come home with bike parts of some kind stuffed in my suitcase, or checked as an extra bag. Works out cheaper than shipping.
The wife likes Vegas, and I like motorcycle parts, it's a win win, lol.
All I can recommend amp wise, is plan ahead for any future upgrades you might be planning, buy more amp than you think you need, sell a kidney, and get er done. Cry once truly is the cheapest way in the long run!

I got a shop in Kelowna that repairs them as well. I don't know if I am going ahead with it as I worry about repeat failure.

I ended up grabbing an EX4 from the classifieds for a good deal...should work well for my current system.

I wouldn't hesitate to repair that SD amp. In my case, with a SD 2400.4 it was definitely worth repairing for the price. Not a lot of amps putting out the same power for the size.
I see somebody sent you a test of the EX4, 26 volts should have you sitting around the 175 watt range at 4 ohm.
Hopefully that works out for ya. I ran a TX48 in the past that put out 175 watts per channel at 4 ohm, which was just enough with the Mmats coax and the DZb Moto G2's.
Instead of having just enough, I'm now a firm believer of more is better. Having an amp with 400 watts per channel, and the ability to dial it back has definitely been worth spending the extra bucks off the start.
Not sure what I would go with if I ever decide to replace the 2400.4 to get comparable power.
In the same range of that SD 1200, the Mmats LSX 1400x4 would be a nice little upgrade.

I totally hear you...and I totally should have bought the Mmats amp.

I may see if someone locally can repair the 1200.4 and possibly sell it and the EX4 down the road for the Mmats.

Surprised no one mentioned the Cicada BDA series... my buddy just put the BDA1000 in his SG and loves it. Plenty of power especially if you put in Cicadas 2 ohm speakers. If you're sticking with 4 ohm speakers I would go with the BDA1400 or larger depending on the setup.

Babyboy mentioned the Cicada amp to me in a PM. Definitely priced well.
