the only way is to connect the Techno-Research or diag-4-bike digital technician ,,,,, and reflash the radio with the Rockford flash if that is what you want back in it ,,,,

the fact that the volume went way up after you updated the software tells me that the radio flash was altered

Does it matter? Does it still sound ok other than being louder? If you can get it checked for no charge, and it makes you sleep better, go for it. If it still sounds the same, other than volume, it's a plus. Anyway, for what it's worth, doing a software update will not change the flash or any of it's settings.

Distortion level on the highway at max volume is the biggest issue ,,,, you cannot alot of the distortion if present at 75mph, and if you run this way for long periods of time, your speakers can heat up and be damaged ,,, so it is best to get it right

Who said anything about distortion? How do we know anything is "wrong"? If it were my bike I'd take it out and see if there were any problems that needed to be addressed before I started to make assumptions. I can't think of anything that a software update would do to the sound level or quality. The bin file doesn't change without the radio being flashed. Anyway, this could all be a tempest in a teacup and we're making a mountain out of a molehill (I apologize for my idiom-laced language).

For what it's worth (and it's worth exactly what OP is paying me for it), my system doesn't start to distort until the SPL is causing my ears to bleed. At any comfortable volume (I do listen to it pretty loud) and at any reasonable speed (75 seems reasonable) I'm nowhere near max volume and have zero distortion (AFAIK). I say take the bike out for a ride and listen to it before thinking that a problem exists.
