Hello. I have a 24 streetglide and I am a little confused about speaker upgrades. The HD web site says if I go with stage one faring speakers I must also upgrade the amp. Why??? if the stage one speakers are 75 watts each and the stock amp is 200 watts isn't that enough power?? The next question is if I must upgrade the amp isn't it just worth it to buy stage 2 speakers???
Now here is the most important question. Stage 2 will cost me a little over a grand,,, Will it sound good at highway speeds?????is this worth it???
Thanks for your time......swifty
If you're not in a big hurry hold on for a couple of months. There are some aftermarket options available currently, but they all involve piggybacking on the factory amp. A couple of folks are working on an interface that will allow removing the factory amp, that's when serious improvements will be possible. Options right now are certainly better than stock, but much more is coming.
As noobie said, the factory stuff is exactly what it's always been, underwhelming for the cost. The numbers are inflated and the RF amps don't hit anywhere near their rated power.
