Default Seeking Advice

I have a 2017 Road Glide Ultra w stock audio everything. My brother just installed a new Soundstream V2. Now the bug has bitten me. Although I’m not looking to drop $1800 for all the trimmings, the Soundstream 14+ seems to be going for about $800-$900. Really don’t need GPS if I’m running Apple CarPlay from my iPhone anyways. I’m also seeing late model Boom GTS systems going for the same money. What would be the advantage/disadvantage of purchasing one over the other for the same money? Now if I could find a Boom GTS for $400-$500, then I might consider it but right now, I’m more inclined to buy the Soundstream

Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated!

Since you already have an Ultra for me the main question would be do you ever used the headsets? If so you could keep them with the GTS. If you think you will ever want to use headsets with an aftermarket head unit the Soundstream V2 with its bluetooth headset functionality (no wired support as far as I know) would be well worth the extra money.

Also as far as I know both Soundstream units require the additional purchase of a handlebar control interface. I guess it depends where your feature/price point balance lands.

Finding a GTS for $400-$500 would be quit the find , they retail for 2K new , there good head units , you would probably need to have it flashed for your bike to recognize it , have android auto and carplay activated at the same time , the Rockford flash as well if you plan on speakers and an amp.

My 2c worth. If you value full handlebar control of the head unit, go with the GTS. If all you care about is changing stations, advancing tracks and volume control, the Soundstream does the job.

Lightbulb

go HDHU.14Si not 14+ IMHO
has full joystick control in AA/CP and the Maestro module is programmable (you can make your switches do what you want)

14+ is a huge upgrade on the Infrustration System you have (6.5GT unless you have the 4.3?),
but the IIsi is light years away and cheaper than the V2

GTS is another option but there are fitting and flashing steps you will need to take if you don't get a fully compatible one. Also doesn't have the EQ features/pre amp the 14Si comes with, out the box

plenty of detailed info on this forum....SEARCH is your friend

Good point... my wife and I actually do use the wired headsets but we're not opposed to switching over to wireless.

Mostly seeing them used for between $800-$900 unless I'm seeing something different. I could be wrong.... But your point about having to flash it and have carplay activated I did not think about.
Thanks for the heads up!

Thank all for the info! Very helpful but also after seeing the pros and cons to both, and the money and time involved with either, sometimes think.... "eh.... leave well enough alone and just enjoy what I have". HA!!
