Default Is this Boom?!?!

hello,

So I am getting conflicting reports on my bike and I am needing to try and get some insight if you might be able to help. 2013 Road Glide CVO 110th AE. Everything I can find shows that it should have the Boom audio system. there is a small MTX amp in the front fairing and one in the left saddlebag. I have attached pictures of the speakers that I pulled from the bike as well. The saddlebag speakers (in the first picture) look like they're supposed to be Kickers based on what I can find. the front fairing has, what I assume are, 5x7s with tweeters built into the grill and independent tweeters as well (Pictured).

I am trying to find out if I can swap these out with standard 5x7 speakers or not. I have heard that HD used a proprietary mounting on the speakers, so the grill mounts will not work with standard 5x7 speakers. If that is the case, are there any other known brands besides HD OEM and HogTunes that will fit int he mounts?

I am looking to replace the fairing grills because they have an integrated tweeter built into the grill itself that cannot be removed (pictured). But again, the aftermarket grill replacements for speakers all seem to indicate that they cannot mount standard 5x7 speakers. So I am at a loss here. Please let me know if you have any information or insight into this. One of the front and rear speakers each are currently blown so I am needing to replace them and I am trying to find speakers that will work outside of the OEM and HogTunes offerings.

Your CVO likely had Boom. originally, but it's been heavily changed. The stock front mounts are proprietary, so standard 5x7s won't fit. You're stuck with Harley/Boom!, HogTunes, or custom adapters from a shop.

Zthat's interesting. As far as I knew, my stepfather had gotten this bike stock from the factory, so that's what i was basing my start point from.

I found some aftermarket grill mounts from Diamond Audio that fit 6.5 speakers on the front fairing so I'll order those. And it looks like i found speakers that will work to replace the saddlebag speakers as well, based on my measurements of the mounting points. So I'll update once they come in.

Thank you very much for your info. I really appreciate it.

2013 was before Boom! came out. You should have a Harmon radio with MTX amps. They did us dirty on the CVO by using the 5x7 (4x6) speakers. You need to buy non-cvo speaker grills and the non-cvo speaker mounts. Then you can use an aftermarket speaker adapter and put 6.5" speakers in. I have a 2012 CVO RG (not ultra). I bought the non-cvo stuff through the dealer.

ETA: I used a 5x7 in the fairing with some modifications to the speakers. You won't get better sound, selection is very limited, the 6.5" round speakers perform better.

Top pic is what you have
Middle pic is what you need
Bottom pic is the part numbers for the non-cvo grills and mounts.

That's awesome! Thank you very much! It does have the little MTX amps in the fairing and saddlebag. The original head unit was HK, but that unit was having some problems as well, so it got replaced with a Soundstream unit. While I was doing that, I figured it would be a good time to replace the old speakers and that's how I got into this whole mess.

Where did you get those diagrams from?

I would recommend removing all the "stock" stuff and replacing with decent speakers and amp. You can easily upgrade your lid 5x7 to 6x9 with an adapter.

I used to use Ronnie's parts finder, it's no longer online. So I had to use the Harley parts website.

It's been a while since I've done a full rework for factory audio and the wire snakes they have on this bike look worse than anything I remember from my car audio days, so I'm a little worried about ripping too far into the whole works if it. Unfortunately having enough money to hire an audioshop do it for me is not a thing at the moment. So I'm just trying to get what I can that are as "plug and play" as possible until I get the funds to have a professional do it . That's part of the reason i went with the SoundStream head until. From everything I found it was the most direct fit, plug and play option that had the features that I wanted. A bit steep on the price tag, but I managed to swing that at least.
