Hey Harley people, I have a 2018 CVO Limited with a newly installed GTS head unit with the latest firmware. I took the bike to Harley for a "Flash" and they say they can't get it to flash. They contacted engineers at Harley and the engineers say the wiring harness is not the same and won't be able to work in a 2018 bike. I call BS. I know this has been done before.
I rebuild accident bikes but I don't have access to a Techno Research computer easily so I am wondering if the Techno Research would be able to communicate with the system over the Harley Digital Tech.
I have done a lot of research on this topic and this post was sort of a last resort. There doesn't seem to be any definitive answer on the Techno Research option. I know the software is up to date on the unit.

That is the message you usually get if it's an original version GTS, or if doesn't have the software updated that made it backwards compatable. are you sure it has had its software updated?
Was is the part number off the radio, including the revision letter?
If you sit a 2019 ECM in the bike that message should go away, then you could update the software, then do all the settings for your bike (speakers, amps, Nav, etc)

The bike is still up at Harley so I can't play with it today. I will pick it up tomorrow and verify the software version but I am 95% sure its updated. to version M23.22.27.00
I will try the ECM trick for sure. I have a few ECM's I can use including the bike the stereo came out of. I also have a few stereo's I can try as well.
