Default line driver settings

installed the following in a dragon fly fairing,

arc mini 125 amp
kenwwod head unit
Hertz 6X9's
and arc ALD line driver,

my question is how do i set the line driver, do i max it out and adjust the gain on the amp starting at zero?

and one more can I drape a blanket over the fairing while i am tuning the system to muffle some of the sound,

thanks

good setup however unless you're using the line driver as a "speaker wire to rca converter" then I don't see it's purpose in this application. In a car audio application it's used to increase the rca voltage output from the headunit to the amplifiers to get more power to larger speakers.

to answer your question, you must first consider the fact that you're dealing with 6x9 speakers so personally I would crank the gain on the ARC device to mid-way, then crank the gain on the amp to about 3/4 way. Too much on either will undoubtedly induce unwanted engine noise into your audio system.

thanks UltraNutz as you can tell I dont know Shiat from Granola when it comes to Audio.

(How bout them Horn Toads)?

my rational with the line driver was to increase the signal into the amp and run the amp at a lower gain setting. so my thinking was getting the same hp at lower RPM's is this wrong thinking? keeping cleaner non distorted sound at a higher volume. the speakers will handle 130 w continuous.

ericl, i certainly wasn't questioning what you know at all.. just providing some experienced input. your line of thinking is most definitely correct in most circumstances. The Kenwood head unit should have a 4 volt signal coming out of it at the RCA jacks and that is more than enough to make that ARC amp and speaker setup bump.

I haven't been to Port Neches in years but had a couple of friends there I lost touch with a while back. had a lot of fun over there! Is Dylan's still open?

BTW, love that (what appears to be) 21" front wheel... Looks sharp!

ultranutz, didn't take it as questioning, i truly dont know shiat about audio. gonna play around with it ARC is closed until after the holidays.

Yeah Dylan's is still here, did a benefit poker run out of there last month.

its a 21 inch renegade and lowered front end, with a 17 inch 200 mm rear, looking at a Danny Gray solo seat for when i ride it like in the photo.

Have a Hammock seat, a king tourpak, and fairing when the wife rides,

if you ever want to trek back to Dylan's let me know, you tune the audio and I'll pick up the beers.
