I am not sure if this would be the correct thread but its a start. Does anyone have any experience with any of the helmet systems out there like the Parrot or the Scala Rider?
I am looking at the Parrot SK4000. I like it for the fact that it is all Bluetooth and you have a control on your handlebars but I do not know anyone that has one to compare. Does anyone else use any helmet systems that they like?
i do not have with the ones you have listed... however, i ride a sport touring every day... full face helmet and wanted to try a helmet speaker set up... figured i would start cheap and see if i even liked it... so... i got these to try them out... man i have to say... for $5 was a great deal! took a while to get here from japan but man... they do not get blistering loud but they get loud enough, have an adjustment for sound on the wire so you can just pocket your ipod... all around a great unit i am very pleased with it!!
There are a bunch of systems out there, all have their disadvantages. I picked the iMC Moto set up. It is an Intercom/music/GPS/Phone/FRS radio system. Not helmet specific like some. For $200.00 it looked a good buy. Have not had a chance to fully evaluate it yet. It is compact and the install was easy. I wanted Music for my FF helmet when touring. Wanted the Intercom and the ability to communicate with other bikes in a group. Many of the Bluetooth systems seem to be restricted to having to sync to one or two other Riders only. Some systems are big $$$$. For Bike to Bike the range seems to be about the same for all of them, no matter what they say on their websites. If you just want music from an iPod then you are better off with in ear buds. The good ones with noise cancelling. If you want a system you can add to later on, then check out iMC, Scala, Chatterbox, Starcom, Autocom, Nolan, Blueant.........and the list goes on.
Scala for 3 years now. Works great. Sound level adjustment, bluetooth phone is noise free,
my wife listens to her Ipod and I listen to what I want (nothing usually)
