I have a 07 electra glide standard. I just purchased a 09 roadglide radio, Installed it, the backlight turns on but the radio doesn't work. a dealership said i needed to plug in the computer and tell it that it noe has a radio. Does that sound right ? any idea why it would not work ?
The radio does not have to be programmed by the dealer to work. If you are not gettint the "radio uncalibrated" screen, it should function fine. Sounds like you just got a defective radio.
You might want to contact Iron Cross Audio. They may know of some additional things you can check

Thanks, I called them and they where very helpful, Although they said it may be a bad unit, Does anyone know a way to check it without sending it in and it costing $250 ?
On the first page of the Touring forum are "stickys" and one of them describes the self-diagnostic procedure for the HD Harman Kardon radio--see if the procedure will identify the problem.
As Tech said, there is nothing the dealer needs to do for a used HK radio to work in your bike if the radio is good.
To rule out the possibility that there is a wiring issue on your bike, see if the radio will work in someone else's bike by removing the radio from your bike and connecting it to another '06 or newer EG,RG or SG.
