Default Blinking Display

I have an old '91 Electra Glide with original radio that developed a blinking display screen. The numbers are all there, but it doesn't illuminate in it's orange color. It was blinking on and off, like every two seconds at first for about two or three months, but now it went dark. I took the front section apart expecting to find an LED going bad that I could replace, but there are none. Everything else works just fine, just not able to see the clock at night anymore. Does anyone have an experience with the old road sound radios? Is the LCD screen integrated with illumination, or is it something else on the circuit board next to it that lights it up?
Thank you in advance for any help or information.

Yes it is a "backlit" LCD screen so no LEDs. Check these guys out, they'll be able to take care of you on that radio if you want to keep it.

Default Thanks

I appreciate the reply. I never thought to see if they had a website, must be the long hours i'm keeping. It's been a while since I messed with electronics, but you jogged my memory and now I remember those, like what they use in digital watches. Thanks again.

I got a reply from radiosound, and less than 8 hours after I mailed them last night.. very good customer service if you ask me. Unfortunately they can not work on the older ones like mine due to parts no longer available. Best they can do is upgrade me to the '96 model, with sending mine in so they can swap the wire harness for a plug and play install. Not sure I'm that desperate to see the dial at night for $400 though. Just in case anybody else ran into this problem I wanted to pass this along.

unless you need the CB and headset function you always have the ability to drop a sony or kenwood head unit in there and use a kit from biketronics (and other vendors) to retain handlebar controls
