Default XM Problems

I had the XM module and overlay harness on my 2008 Ultra and it worked fine. I recently sold the unit and when they installed it he told me the

"XM module comes up on the screen, Radio ID shows up, but can’t get past the “check antenna” error."

I am taking the unit back and will try to install it on my 2012 Ultra TG. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? He bought a new antenna for it and still got the same check antenna error. I believe he was installing the module on a Road Glide Ultra. Shouldn't make a difference.
Opinions please.
Thanx

Is it being installed on a compatible bike? Year, etc. I sold my XM module from my 09 Ultra a while back to someone who said he had an 09 RG. Emails ensued stating he couldn't get it to work at all. After about 8 emails, he slipped up and put in an email that the bike he was installing it on was a 2011 CVO street glide. On the 2011 CVO models (could be others), the 6B connector that the instructions state to plug the overlay harness into doesn't exist.

Actually he was able to use the overlay harness. On the Ultras, there are only 3 plugs that have to be connected. Pretty much fool proof. I'm wondering if he didn't have the magnetic antenna mounted to a metal base. I'll find out in a few days when I receive it back in the mail. Thanks for the thread though.

I found out what was wrong with the radio. The male connector coming out of the radio is missing the center wire, similar to a coax cable. Guess it broke when I took the antenna off. I sent it out to be repaired. I found this place Iron Cross Audio http://www.ironcrossaudio.com, a sponsor no less, and a phone call later it was in the mail. They estimate the repair to cost $75.00 with a 3 day turn around time. That's great. I spoke with Tony, and he was a pleasure to work out this problem with.
