i did say approximate. :-) I used 2 ohms because it's a standard.
you are correct in the 5.4 ohms statement. However with this said I still say you'll be more than pleased with the output of the amp in this configuration. Don't let numbers sway you.. they're just numbers and when it comes to amps, they are never true numbers; I don't care what any manufacturer says. The 2 PBR300x2 amps I just bought; each comes with a spec sheet of testing quality. the first out of the box tested out at 188 watts per channel into 2 ohms, the other tested out at 192 watts per channel into 2 ohms.
FYI, I just finished putting my 2 PBR300x2 amps in last night on my new FLHTK running a complete set of Boom Audio speakers and stock head unit. Incredible for 5.25" speakers!!

Wait.....Your running the Boom! speakers with a PBR300x2 amp?
Wow. I would have never thought those speakers would be able to handle that amp.
Do you have any pictures on how you mounted the amps in your fairing? I am looking at mounting either 2 PBR300x2 or a 300x2 and a300x4 in my fairing and am curious where they fit. I plan on keeping my HK radio.
I knew someone would ask for pics. No sir I did not take any pics. I mounted 1 PBR300x2 on top of the radio using a 1/2" strip of lead (purcahsed from hobby lobby) with self adhesive tape on it. You do not want that amp sitting directly metal to metal with your radio. It will not be able to dissipate heat.
The other amp, i installed in the tourpak front right side screwed to the bottom steel plate. It's small enough not to worry about taking up any usable room.
my suggestion is stay away from the PBR300x4. I bought 1 for my 09 Ultra, installed it, the gain controls were crappy at best and very "staticy" I called RF, they sent me another, it was exactly the same. I sent it back to retailer I purchased from and bought 2 pbr300x2 amps and installed those.. no problems at all. So I went back with the same amps in my new bike and couldn't be happier. yeah the boom audio speakers surprised me as well but they sound great

Now this has changed things and maybe for the better. Got to looking and the MM651 box today and right on the side of it it say; COMPATIBLE WITH 4ohm OUTPUTS. So now the PBR300X4 may come into play. I can use the front channels for the upper fairing speakers and when I run the lower fairings I can use the rear channels. Question is, will this work or will it hurt the amp in the long run just running 2 channels?

I started a thread in the touring section about speakers for that amp.
