I'd bet the earbud idea is quite possible.
Depending on the impedance of the buds, the amp signal should be strong (high enough voltage, allthough millivolts) enough, plus I assume the amp has a gain trimmer on it to allow a very close match. Just a matter of wiring up the propper jacks with the correct polarities.

Thanks UN for moving this over. Maybe someone has done so already. I might try this weekend too.

Converted my front 2 channels to hi input and readjusted gain. Seems louder but will do some riding next few days to see real difference.

I'll be interested in your observations between the high input and RCA methods. What HU are you using? A 2.5V output type?

I added the low levels to my HK head unit. I think my ear says a little more volume, but not a measurable diference and maybe actually lost a little quality. Gain is way down with hi vs the low input for sure.

no doubt it makes a difference. The impedance and voltage output of a 2V RCA doesn't seem to play well with this amp. Now get up to 4v RCAs and it seems to play well in that sandbox.

RF sells a tinned end speaker harness for the PBR's for $5. The part # is 1560-56568-01 If I go the 300x2 route, I'll get the tinned harness and try both. I was pondering a new JVC HU with 4.8V preouts but I don't really need it. The main benefit of the high outs I think would be lower gain setting = less heat. At 70mph, you might need the little extra ooomph and the sound quality might not be noticeable anyways?

The amp comes with everything you need. If you want to use the Hi level, you simply cut the RCA connector half off of the leads. Cut, stripped, tinned and soldered up, with heat shrink, is a pretty fast process. I think you will be happy with the X2.

I know I can cut the RCA connector but figured I'd keep that if I ever get a new head unit with 4.8v preouts. The PBR RCA connector is $15 as accessory, the tinned end $5. I'll keep the RCA connector in reserve
