Thanks, I cut them off of the Polk grilles, trimed 'em down on my disk grinder, then finished them up with a rubber wheel in a hand piece. Cut a couple of small pieces if 3M emblem tape anfd stuck 'em on the grilles...I've got OCD....

Local, and I got another set this afternoon. Everything is in.

I have one wiring question- the crossover leads have no connectors on them. The Polk manual shows the traced wire going to + and the plain wire going to - on the amp.

The amp has connectors on the wires to go to speakers, or now to the crossover leads. The HT manual says connect color to color, etc, "they will only go on one way". This doesn't tell me what is + and - for my crossover leads.

Which is which? I have brown/black on the clutch side and blue/black on the brake side to connect to the crossovers. Common sense tells me black is negative but when I unhooked the factory speakers, yellow was to positive. But the yellow wire will only connect to the black wire from the amp.

Go figure.

One more thing- the brown/black and blue/black wires have female connectors. The black wires have smaller female connectors than the blue and black.

Is this a hint?

Gray/Red -

Factory speaker wires-

Clutch side-
Green/yellow to HT yellow wire
White/orange to HT black wire

Brake side-
Green/black to HT green wire
Gray/red to HT black wire

These are going TO the amp.

This leaves the speaker OUT wires from the amp which are:

Clutch side- brown/black
Brake side- blue/black

They connect to the cross over. The cross over has tinned wire ends (no connectors).

The speaker end of the crossover will only connect one way so I hooked them to the speakers.

The tinned cross over ends have to go to the brown/black and blue/black.

Right?

If yes, does the traced wire go to black or brown/blue?

The Polk manual says the traced wire goes to +. Is black positive (see earlier concern on this) or is the brown/blue wire +?

ah.. ok.. gotcha now...

the black wires with white stripes are +

brown and black are your left (clutch side) speakers wires. Brown being +
Blue and black are your righ (brake side) speaker wires. Blue being +

THAT'S what I thought but...

as I said, common sense tells me black is negative but when I unhooked the factory speakers, white/orange and gray/red was going to positive on the speakers. But the white/orange and gray/red will only connect to the black wire from the amp.

Seems like + and - reversed. This is what's screwing with my head.

Just to spell it out once more...

Factory speaker wires-

Clutch side-
Green/yellow (was to speaker-) now goes to HT yellow wire
White/orange (was to speaker +) now goes to HT black wire

Brake side-
Green/black (was to speaker -)( now goes to HT green wire
Gray/red (was to speaker +) now goes to HT black wire

These are going TO the amp and they have male/female connectors and this is the only way they fit.

This leaves the speaker OUT wires from the amp which are:

Clutch side- brown/black
Brake side- blue/black

They normally would connect to speakers but now will connect to the crossover leads of my Polk MM651 speakers which are connected to the speakers. The crossover lead has tinned wire ends (no connectors).

The tinned cross over ends have to go to the brown/black and blue/black.

The Polk manual says the traced crossover wire wire goes to +. Is black positive or is the brown/blue wire + on the speaker OUT from the amp?

Common sense says black is negative but when I unhooked the factory speakers, white/orange and gray/red was going to positive on the speakers. But the white/orange and gray/red will only connect to the black wire from the amp.

This is what's screwing with my head… seems like + and – have reversed.
