luc.who check out my other posts. I've posted quite a few pics of the amp sitting on top of both the stock headunit and the sony headunit. It fits perfectly across those vertical fairing brackets.
You made a smart move on the SS. The 4 channel RF I feel is one of the worst amps out there. The 2 channel doesn't run anywhere near as hot and actually is a good little amp.
I wouldn't solder anything. Use good butt connectors on everything.
I don't have the expertise to post digital pics right now sorry! I have a 2007 Street Glide. I purchased lowers from Harley. I got speaker pods from Fairing Factory on Ebay. Used gray paint from Auto zone (plastic bumper paint in aerosol can that matched the stock glove boxes). I used Speaker grills from Parts express that I had. ( you could also use speaker grills from Harley, the CVO boom audio grills, $12.00 vs $70) I put in the Titan II's from Biketronics (HATS). But the Polk 651's drop tight in. The speakers in the lowers are "in your face" especially at highway speeds while the tour pak speaker I have to lean back to hear them fully! That being said I am putting in saddle bag lid speakers 6x9's along with the tour pak speakers and the lowers and the fairing speakers I will have 8 speakers run off the S.S amp, Front speaker in paralell, back speakers in paralell 520 watts rms from the S.S. 520D!
How's the SS holding up to the load? If it's not getting hot or clipping then I would probably just leave it. And yes sir, you're close. 2.7 ohm and 4 ohm in parallel = 1.61 ohms.
And for those that think equal power will be provided to speakers of different impedances (ohms) from your amp in a parallel connection;
A 250w amp will deliver approx 149.x w to the 2.7 ohm speaker and 100.x w to the 4 ohm speaker. It is not an equal split in these wiring configurations.
Actually, the Tweeter Pods are 6 ohm, which should get us a little closer to a 2 ohm load overall.
The speakers in the lowers are "in your face" especially at highway speeds while the tour pak speaker I have to lean back to hear them fully!
Hey, that's what the fader is for.
FWIW, my experience is that the speakers in the lowers get washed away at speeds over 45 or 50 if they're not ramped way up with the fader. You can kind of tell they're there, but they sure don't add much. In the garage they sound great.
Luc, I don"t have the ability to post digital pic's sorry. Nutz has pic's on how He mounts the S.S. amp (He screws it to the fairing brackets) I used a !/2 inch block of Birch plywood Velcro'd to my Alpine radio and the S.S. velcro'd to the block! I used velcro (industrial strength) because originally I started with a Hog Tune amp that THEY used velcro to mount to my stock H.K. radio I than used the velcro on a Arc amp 125. Than I used the velcro to mount the S.S, amp to my Alpine radio. When I have to move or remove the velcro'd amps I have to pry them off the velcro with a screw driver both methods provide a safe, stable, isolated, mounting platform. You can decide what is an easier and better way to mount your amp! ROCK ON!
Hey Rat, I found just the opposite, do you have speakers in your lowers? I can hear my HATS in the lowers MUCH better at highway speeds than the Arcs I have in my tour pak pods. IN fact the Titans in the lowers sound as good or better than the KPS' focal components I have mounted in my fairing! Than when my wife rides with me her legs block the tour pak speakers even more (and shes not a large lady she wieghs about 115 lbs.) If I fade to the rear speakers when your really cranking it the rear speakers start to distort so I guess everybody has an opion about which sounds better but if I only had 2 pair of speakers I would put in fairing and lower speakers. Rock on!
but if I only had 2 pair of speakers I would put in fairing and lower speakers. Rock on!
100% agree and Mike has some good suggestions. the rears in my opinion are there for "fill" when you're riding but if you adjust the rears out with the fader, you definitely notice them not being there.
Sitting still is a whole "nother" story. :-)
Ok..swear to God this is the last thing I am buying for the front or the wife just might shoot my *** lol. Not an audio thing but since I am tearing the fairing off, getting the inner painted, might as well get this too. What ya think?
