Wanted to say Thank You UltraNutZ for all the sound advice you have given out. It is really appreciated. I hope someday when I get out of this cold A** State of Ohio and head toward texas we can hook up and have a cold refreshing beverage.

I for one appreciate your knowledge in general in the audio area. Every opinion is just that and people have different experiences with different brands. Kinda of like my LED being a Samsung for a reason. I have my own preferences with speakers for example but agree the HD is for crap. Keep on suggesting there are way more people that are appreciative of your efforts here.................

Default Don't let 'em get ya down Ultra!!

I have to agree with the other posts here Ultra- your input, opinions, expertise, experience and willingness to actually HELP is what makes this forum worth coming to every day. I personally appreciate the input you've made, and help you've given to ME in my quest to publicly figure things out- and hopefully others have gotten something from our discourse.

It's discouraging seeing guys who actually TRY and are more than willing to help have to post like this. If more people would just follow their mother's advice - if you ain't got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all - we'd all be better off.

Sniping at guys who are up front and clear with stating they're offering opinions that work well for them, adding dumb comments about hating/not having/never experiencing something in an effort to boost post counts is ANNOYING. If the dimwits who want to practice these things can't be civil or exhibit self-control (keep your damn fingers OFF the keyboard when you don't agree/don't know), perhaps they should just go be the badass bikers they truly are and get offline. The rest of us, those who would like genuine and helpful insights as well as opinions on products, procedures and fixes, would all appreciate them leaving the forums. And they can save their "post count" whoring for someplace that cares about such things. More posts means less time riding, doesn't it?

Ultra- I second OLD MXR's comment- if I wasn't stuck in the State of Taxation (now featuring a neutered 2nd Amendment!), I'd gladly buy you a beer or three! Sorry you feel the need to defend yourself here. But I'm EXTREMELY grateful you've invested the time and effort to help as much as you have!!

Default Newbie here ....

Kuddo's to UltraNutz for all the helpful knowledge he has shared! As a newbie SG owner, I would like to get your opinion on the best reasonably priced stereo upgrade for my '09 SG. I like the PA MM651's and I am considering the DSX-S310BTX head unit. I may or may not add spkrs in the rear, so I guess I should go with the 4 channel amp? will my IPhone 4S and my Ipod Nano work in that Sony deck? also will I loose any of the bar controls using the Biketronics BT-1002 retro? will the Soundstream PN4.520D amp be sufficient for good clean sound with only the two speakers installed? Thanks for your help and I value your opinions.

thank you.

well really you need to figure out exactly what you want to do first before moving forward.
if you stay with the 2 speaker setup then I would probably go the route of the DB651 speakers (must be 4 ohm speakers) and the SS PN4.520D in a bridged mode supplying all 520w to those 2 speakers. That amp will rock the hell out of those speakers and will sound great. Problem with this is later on if you add more, you'll have to replace the DB series speakers with MM series to bring the amp load to 2 ohms in order to get full ouput power of the amp.

if you have the desire to go 4 speakers at a later time, the MM651s in the fairing, SS PN4.520D amp running in 2 channel mode for the time being and then add the rear MM651s later. When all said and done you'll be pushing all 520w between the 4 speakers.
The Sony (or any aftermarket headunit with 4v outputs on the RCAs) will make a world of difference in sound. Any I.x device other than the iPhone 5 will fit inside the face although Apple and Sony both have released statements that they don't suggest using the older (very old) iPods that have mechanical hard drives in them because of vibration.
With the Sony/Biketronics combo you lose absolutely nothing. With other aftermarket units, you probably want to check with Biketronics on that.

Also another option which is a good option for the 2 speaker setup is the Focal K2 speakers.

It is nice have someone around that has some knowledge and is willing to share/help! Thanks! I would of done my system differently if I knew what I know now, partly thanks to you. dam-it! That said there do seem to those that take your word as gospel and/or take issue with your choices/opinions. Good to know you get it. Kool!
