My Electra Glide Standard has never had a radio in and now its time. I am looking for a system I can connect my Droid to. Never drank the Apple kool-Ade. But I need a complete system with a power amp through antenna. My 09 does come with controls pre-wired so I would like them to work with the new system. Thanks!
Thanks for you help UltraNutZ, I just ordered the PN4,520D and Polk Audio Speakers. I was looking at the Sony WX-GT90BT for the Bluetooth capabilities. Any thoughts??
The antenna, i dunno.. I hear/read folks here saying good things about the new in fairing boom audio antenna
UN any issues with these only being rated at about 60watts rms and feeding with a bridged 100/ch = 200/ch??
Don't understand audio enuf to know this and was just wondering.
I know these #'s are not all thats involved, and then the gains must also influence the watts sent to the speakers also?
yes sir your understanding is correct and to sum it up, it's always better to have too much power driving a speaker than not enough. It all comes down to common sense in your listening habits to determine when enough is enough. When the speaker starts distorting from being "over-driven", turn it down a bit.
And, if you didn't put guages in your two lower vacant holes, I'd suggest component speakers. You'll appreciate the difference, especially if you take a few minutes and put the fuel/volt meter guages in the lower holes and put the tweeters in the upper holes
Here is what I did. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...r-my-flht.html
If I was to do it again I'd go with a Sony unit for better hand control operation and Bluetooth for streaming. Maybe the polks would have been a better a speaker choice? but that is an "ear" thing and at 70+ matters little. I am very happy with the sound as is!
Good luck!
Unfortunately I put the air and oil gauges in last year. The only thing I have left to buy is the antenna. Not sure where I want to mount it. I think I need a whip as most of my riding is at the edge of radio reception so a fairing audio antenna may not be my best choice.
