when you pull your outer fairing cap off, look just below the stock radio at the front of the triple tree. On the left is a ground lug from HD already attached. To the right is another threaded hole in the triple tree. Use that to ground your system.
What happened to grounding on the fairing support? Do you think the triple tree is a better idea now?
I was at the local HD dealer and the only CVO lower speaker boxes they had listed were the ones for 5.25" speakers. Are there ones that are specific to 6.5" speakers or have people been modifying the standard 5.25" ones to accept the larger speaker? Also, is there any advantage to the HD over the Hawg Wired ones? The CVO were about $50 more than the Hawg Wired ones.
no change in wiring other than using RCA outputs from the aftermarket radio instead of using high level inputs from the stock headunit so the diagram I posted for you won't be used in aftermarket headunit install. Use the RCA outputs..
Do you have a diagram for using a aftermarket HU to connect faring speakers and lower speakers in parallel to the front ch of the SS 4ch amp and then running 6x9 speakers on the rear ch. using RCA's ?
to wire your front speakers and lowers in parallel, tie both +s together and both -s to each other and run that to the left or right front output of the amp and do the same for the other side. the rears you simply run each left and right speaker to the left anf right speakers of the outputs on the amp.
Ultra your help and expertise here is amazing...but also has my head spinning. Can a 2 channel amp be used to power failing and lower speakers while leaving the tears just hooked up as they are in a stick situation? I am looking at the Rockford-Fosgate PBR300x2 and speakers to be named later or the Arc MPAK 6 kit. All addressing the front only. Am I headed down a dangerous road? TIA.
absolutely so and the RF is one of many good choices for 2 channel amps. The amp is stable at 2 ohms so you want to find 2 pair of speakers that you like that are 4 ohm. You would wire those in parallel to create a 2 ohm impedance load at the amp.
Man all these damn forums are dangerous when it comes to your pocket book! lol Welcome to the club...
I was looking at one other option and just wanted to verify my understanding. If I decided to do Polk MM651's in the fairing and in the lowers I could still use the rear output on the stereo to drive the rear speakers for when the tour pak is still installed, correct?
My other question is with regard to the wiring diagram previously posted. To make it work where the fairing speakers and the lowers are both run off what the HD radio considers the front, would it require me splicing the front output wires from the head unit to both inputs on the amp?
Thanks for all the help UltraNutZ! Between your posts here and Google image searches for the amp, I think I've got a pretty solid idea of what the wiring will need to look like. I just want to make sure that when I do start splicing I wire it all up in the most optimal way and not just a way that will work thanks to electric theory, but might not be the best setup.
