Following directions to upgrade the radio software for my 2006 Ultra per HD website. Downloaded zip file and extracted the two files. How do I save these two files in a "standard format", "iTunes", or MP3?
One file is is a "upg", the other is a "bin" file.
You do not need to save them in a standard format. They are already in the correct format for the radio. What the instructions say is to BURN them to CD in a Standard Format (HFS Plus/ISO 9660). That essentially says that what ever software you use to burn the files to the CD has to support one of those 2 standards. It does NOT change the file types or anything, it is just the way they get burned.
also you want to burn/record at 16x speed and/or below. Any higher and my experience as well as others is it's hit and miss as to whether the headunit will read the CD.
Bought new Sony CD-Rs and burned using Windows XP. After I insert disk, no other message than "Verifying DSP Image" shows. Followed directions and even made sure speed was correct and still software will not upgrade.
Zohan, I had a similar issue when I did this a while back. I burned the CD with a different piece of software, and that fixed it for me. Try switching your burner software and see if that helps.
