can you confirm that you are going directly to one of the speakers with the wires coming out of the head unit and NOT to the crossover and still getting no output?

couple of more things before I concede to a bad head unit.

Can you confirm for me the color of wires being used from the head unit for front outputs and which connector they're coming off of.

a continuity test wont show if the wires are grounding out or frayed
it will show that its still connected and not completely cut

u need to use ohms to test if its grounding out

Get a multimeter and put it on the ohm setting. Touch the wire with one probe and the engine or ground with the other lead, if the meter reads anything but OL, it's shorted to ground.

place one of the multimeter on resistance/Ohms setting
(with the battery DISCONNECTED)
connect one end of the probes on a grounded point , frame , ground nut on frame or anyother good ground u can find

Then, using the other probe, begin probing wires/connections/etc.
If you find a wire that has shorted to ground it will show a very low resistance (usually a 0 on the display).

some meters will have thier own ohm when leads touch
so note it

this will show u for sure if it is indeed a short to ground

actually. let me put this out there for you

on your radio you have the following wires for your front speakers.

Frt Left + = White/Orange
Frt Left - = Light Green/White
Frt Right + = Grey/Red
Frt Right - = Light Green/Black

On your crossovers for the polk audio speakers (1 for each speaker) you have 3 sets of wires.

On one end of the crossover is 2 sets of wires, these are your OUTPUTS to your speakers and you must pay attention to the connectors on them, as they are supposed to go on one way only. The white stripes are your positive wires.
On the other end of the crossover is 1 set of wires, these go to the outputs of the amp. White stripe is positive.

  • You need to make sure these are connected properly.
  • You need to check for testing purposes that you are connecting these wires from your head unit DIRECTLY to a speaker and not through a crossover box or tied to anything else.
  • Another way to test the outputs of the radio is to take a digital volt meter, set it to low-scale AC volts. Touch red lead to white/orange wire and black lead to light green/black wire on radio front left channel. Turn your volume up and the voltage should increase.

Default AVC control off?

Forgive me if this was already mentioned. I remember seeing Paul Yaffe video with the Fosgate guy saying to shut off Automatic Volume control on stock head unit when connecting to RF300 amp. Default on my 03 is AVC=2. Try and set it to zero and pray it works? After all you have done my suggestion sounds like a like a long pass. I'm hoping the best for ya, I'm looking to put an RF300X2 in my EGC in the coming months.

Ok, first let me say thank you to those of you that havehelped me out here. I wish I could say that I found out what the problem wasbut all I can say is “it is fixed” how I don’t really know. I thought since I triedeverything else I would just start over and this is what I did. First I took offall of the shrink wrap and zip ties I had put on, thinking that maybe a wirewas grounding out. Then I looked up all the wires in the wiring diagram andfound that one of the wires goes through the radio fuse and backtracks to theaccessory fuse. I checked this and found a 15amp fuse blown. I replaced thatand then ran a REM wire to the RF amp, despite the speaker wire connection. Andlike magic it worked. I don’t know what one or more than one thing fixed thisbut it works now. I will try and post some pics tomorrow. Thank you again toall that helped out.
