Was running the RF300x2 with the polk mm651 in the fairing...it was amazing!...also have a nice sony deck pushing it.

Just changed to the SS amp and it is just as loud, the ONLY reason I changed is cause I needed 4 channels.

Default 2011 Street Glide Audio Setup

Usually on 2 speakers setups I'll recommend going with a pair of Polk Audio MM651 speakers and a RF PBR300x2 amp.

If you want more power than 150x2, then you can step to the Soundstream PN4.520D 4 channel amp and a set of Biketronics Titan II 6.5" or the new 7.1" speakers. With this configuration you'll want to bridge the SS amp to 2 channels providing full output of 500w + to the titan II speakers

Have to forewarn you though about possible FM interference with the SS amp because it's a Class D amp. It may or may not cause FM interference so if you're concerned with FM reception then go the route of the RF amp and MM651 speakers.

Either way will sound great, just quite a bit more power with the 2nd option.
Hi UltraNutZ, great assistance.
I am also considering your setup recommendation to have it on my 2011 SG. But can I also add the HogTunes Tweeter Pod HF-1 to the setup? Or do I need to go for 4Ch Amp?

Thanks

iMak79, if you're referring to the PBR300x2 amp and MM651 speakers I think you're going to find you don't need the tweeter pod but if you've already got it installed I would connect the HF-1 to the outputs of the radio and then use the amp to drive the speakers.

A few on here agree the tweeters were not necessary however a couple do like them in addition to the speakers so it really boils down to a matter of personal preference.

If they haven't been installed yet, I would try the speakers alone before you go off drilling holes in your fairing. You can always add them after you're done with the amp and speaker setup.

UltraNutZ, thanks for the reply.

Actually nothing has been installed yet. I am doing my research. I was onto the HOGTUNES Speaker 5.25" with Rev Amp 902.2, but after reading others and your feedback I gave it another thought.

As you said, it's good to try the speakers first before installing the pod tweeters. I will not rush into the tweeters now.

Do you have any good reason why to choose MM651 over MM521? And should I go for Marine type or the normal one? Should I get the speaker trim ring for the MM651? If yes, which one do you recommend?

Much better sound quality/volume from a larger speaker. All of the Polk speakers are marine certified so no worries there. The UM series are Ultra Marine for real wet installation scenarios like in boats and the grills do NOT come off these speakers so you don't want to use them.

The adapters, Dragonfly Cycle Concepts.. Call and talk to Kevin.. he'll give you 10% off for being a forum member.

Thank you Sir.
In order to complete the setup, any other things to be added to the below list:

1. Rockford Fosgate Amp PBR300X2
2. Polk Speakers MM651
3. Dragonfly Cycle 6 1/2" speaker adapter

Do I need Speaker Baffles? I don't want to miss any other items as they will be shipped outside of USA.

You'll need an amp install kit. If you have a walmart over there you can pick up a kit there.

I'm not a believer in baffles myself. If you have a walmart over there, pick up a small roll of polyfil and wrap the fairing speakers to look like a big white cotton ball.

Wish we had Walmart here. But there are plenty of electronic shops around and hope to find one. Otherwise, DIY is another way to go.

As per the amp manual, the manufacturer recommends a 10 AWG wire for use on the power (B+) and ground (GND) connections. Is it ok or should I go bigger?

How about speaker wires? What size is recommended?

Thanks

10ga is perfectly fine and if you've got stock speaker wires use them, if not 16AWG is fine as well.
