Post The Official Poly-Fil Thread

Share with us your Poly-Fil success stories! Pictures, results, details, ect.

This poly-fil roll is what UltaNutZ suggested for me to purchase at Walmart. I just picked up something very similar from there yesterday. Installation to follow.

I mounted two layers of the poly-fil between the screws and speed clips. Worked very well. I may add two more layers next time I have the fairing open.

Just got back from Walmart with a roll of polyfill gonna give it a try this weekend. Any brilliant ideas on how to secure it to the speaker? And how thick do you want it wrapped around the speaker?

Thumbs up

Don't make it harder than it really is fellas....

1 to 1-1/2" thick. Cut it large and place it around the speaker. UN says that the batwing fairing will hold it in place. On my Roady, I used a couple of tie raps to keep it snug around the speaker. Trim any excess away as needed.

Clears the speaker up, and puts the "thump" in the base.

No need to run to Walmart if'n ya steal one of the 15 pillows the wife has in the house.... maybe she won't even miss it.

Just used an old pillow.....Lined the pods with about an 1.5" thick layer and wrapped the front speakers....The fairing will hold it in place. Had finished up install, and I could tell how much tighter the rear speakers sounded so I added to the fronts.....nearly double the original amount. Makes a huge differeance IMO. The pic is with the additional fill.

This may be a stupid question but what the heck. How flameable is pollyfill and won't it absorb water? I realize the amp or speakers won't get hot enough to cause a fire hazard with the pollyfill and if the pollyfill absorbs water I would think that could cause a problem.

Your poly fil looks like a cotton like sUbstance...mine that I got from Walmart is a mat of foam. Should I use the cottony stuff?

not to put down anyone's homemade good ideas, and J&M is never going to get rich off of selling our fairing mounted acoustic foam pads, (((see http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....ctID=FSAP-HDRG ,,,,,

but these custom die-cut pre-gummed pads for the RoadGlide fairing really do work to tighten up the bass, they are flame resistant and will not absorb significant amounts of moisture ,,,,
