Default Winter mods complete- Audio-Pic Heavy

Today I finished up my winter mods which included an audio system, highway pegs and backrest.
The audio thing started when I saw GlacierPearls and BigGelvis' Ultra's and knew that's what I wanted. I asked these two guys a bunch of questions and they always answered so a big "Thank you" to you guys!!!!
I stopped by ProSound here in Salem, NH and spoke with Richie the owner who was very helpful. He has a RG that has the same JL Audio 400/4 and C5 speakers so I figured if its good enough for him I couldn't go wrong. I know some people may ask "why" on a touring bike but its what I wanted to lets not get into that debate- to each their own.
I went with a Pioneer AVH6300BT headunit installed with the Hawg Wired kit which in my opinion is top quality using a billet aluminum trim ring vs a plastic one and a tray that the HU will sit on. The amp is a JL Audio M400/4 and speakers are JL Audio C5's component speakers. All top quality stuff.
Pioneer AVH6300BT- I went with this unit because it allows me to control Pandora right from the HU whereas many others flip outs wont do that

I bought a set of CVO speaker boxes for the lowers and had them painted to match Vivid Black

The hawg Wired install kit uses the tray so the radio has some support

Radio installed in the tray

One set of C5's installed in the lowers- all the connections to the speakers were soldiered

A set of C5's in the upper fairing as well as the amp and crossovers all tucked in there

The 8ga wires for the amp, power and ground were ran down in the harness channel

This set up sounds awesome and the hwy pegs and backrest are the best investments I have made as far as comfort

looks great.. how does it sound?

how about the XD400/4.. how tight of a fit was it and did you have to modify anything to get it to fit?

AWESOME !!! Glad you got it all together !! How do you like the Pioneer ?? Didn't know if you were dead set on the upper end Pioneer or not ....

No rear speakers yet ???

Is there any sound difference in the upper & lower speakers ?? Wondering what the different enclosures do to the sound ....

Did you add the IPOD cable , or are you just gonna use Pandora ??

Congrats man , glad I could help !!!

albeit a pic, doesn't show much.. I too would like to see more detailed pics as to how that amp fits in there with no mods especially with those RCAs sticking out the front of it.

The amp is actually the M (marine) versin of the XD
It sounds great, especially with a DVD, being a better recording. I have the Aerosmith "You gotta Move" live concert and it sounds awesome.

To answer the question about mods to fit the amp in there..
On the back of the Speedo/tach there are some plastic tabs that stick out that have to be cut off flush with the casing of each. Also the amp has "feet" or tabs that you use to mount the amp to whatever when mounting a vehicle that have to be cut off as well as a "ridge" around the amp that you can see in the pics has been trimmed off.

Thanks, i ended up going with the Pioneer for a few reasons. It seems that there are very few quality single din flip outs still being made and through my research I believe the Pioneer is the best followed closely by the Kenwood but I chose the Pioneer because I can control Pandora right through the unit whereas with the kenwood I could not. I just had to buy a special cord that plugs from the Iphone into the USB on the front of the HU. It was $50 but found it on Ebay for $8.88.
I haven't done the rears yet, first my budget doesnt allow for it, secondly I am waiting for my guy to finish waht he is doing with his which is mounting the JL M880-CCX-CG-TB- a few pics below, The install on them is bad *** but he is just trying to locate a Duetch style connector that will allow 8ga wire for the amps, For me, being able to remove the bags for cleaning is a must so I want to just be able to unplug everything and set the bags on a stand while I clean the bike. If I dont go with this set up I may do the 5x7 C5's in the lids with the HD speaker lids. I havent noticed too much sound difference between the uppers and lowers but I havent really played around with it at all.

Here is a different view of the amp, maybe you can get a better idea of what was done

You can see the edges have been trimmed for a better fit, and as I said the speedo and tach was trimmed a bit as well.

For a sneak peek this is what I will be doing with the bags, these are a few pics of what my installer is doing with his RG and as I said he is just searching for connectors that will allow for quick removal of the bags

As far as connectors are concerned, I was planning on using some Dean's plugs or Traxxas plugs from RC cars. Gold plated, high current. Although not waterproof:
