This was before I met Mr Genius up there (Gone Riding) and he figured out the whole power/emi thing.
I appreciate the complement, UN, but I'm no genius. This issue just happened to be in my wheelhouse. And don't give me too much credit until someone else with the problem can document the improvement.
I'd be glad to send you a couple of the small ones (0.5" inner diameter), Sl33py. I ordered something like 10 of them since they are so cheap relative to the shipping charge. Just PM me your address. They're too cheap and small to mess with payment, and I don't need any of the big ones. I don't expect to do any more.
Since I had extras, I put one on my hand-made RCA cable in addition to the power and remote. The next time my fairing is off I'd be tempted to put one on the rear speaker wires too. I suspect a little noise is also getting out that route.
I'll send you one or two anyway. If you want you should be able to run all your power and ground AND rem if you want since they are .25" larger inner diam.
PM'ing you my info - make sure and give me yours and i'll drop it in the mail this week.
Going to try this on my brother's bike after confirming how much the Amp is interfering.
Ordered the hard to find Fair-Rite 2631801202 - .75" opening, .5" long, little over 1" across:
Will see how many wraps i can get w/ 8g through one. looks like (due to min order) i will have a few extra... like 23... Might throw them on for sale for anyone else who needs one. 5$ and send SASE?
I'd like to buy one from you. New to the forum so I can't PM you. Just let me know how to get you the money for it.

I have 8guage wires. Anyone have any extras of the larger one. you can shoot me an email at gasneed@gmail.com and i can pay through paypa. I also bought a 4.320 that i gave to my step mom and i could hear the radio much better on that one. Would i still need to go through this process?
I’m curious about something, does the FM problem have anything to do with how the amp was mounted?
Do the people that mounted their amp on a metal bracket have less of a problem than others who mounted the amps in some other fashion?
Or is it strictly an amp / power issue?
Mine was installed last night and I didn’t get to do a test ride, but I was closed up in an insulated pole barn and FM seemed fine, (bike running) no outer fairing and about 15 cable ties to put back on.
I want to get it outside and reset the gains, I was going deaf in the barn.
And again Nutz thanks for the help, this thing is way louder than I expected.
Hey guys! Did some tinkering this afternoon and wanted to show the differences in ferrites.
My 8g wire is about 5/16 or 7.5mm:
I mention that specifically because getting 3 wraps like Gone Riding mentions is tough. Definitely need 2 ferrites to do so.
Not easily, but I was able to get 2 wraps on one (which may be enough to help) - both power and ground 8g:
Here's the 3 ferrites recommended here:
Thanks GR for the two smaller ones! (you have a package on the way sir!)
Inner diameter biggest to littlest by part #:
.75" (what i have) - Fair Rite 2631801202
.54" (original recommended - likely work well w/ 10g) - Fair Rite 2631101902
.37" (smaller one GR sent - likely only work with small wires) - Fair Rite 2631665702
Wire consumption estimates - i unwrapped the ferrite afterwards, and with the .5" long ones i have i guesstimate about 7-9" used of each power and ground cable w/ 2 wraps, so figure in another 3-4" for 3 full wraps!
With the longer 1" ferrites - i'm guessing it will be quite a bit more (maybe not quite 2x). Just food for thought.
Will be doing my brother's bike next and we'll see if we can do it without pulling a new power wire. Ground will definitely need a new wire.
Kinda lame, but hey - better FM reception is worth it!
