I have my entire fairing off and I'm trying to figure out what HAS to be connected to power the radio.
I'm trying to test everything before installation. I checked the 10 and 20 pins and there is no voltage. Is this something goofy like the headlight has to be connected or something? I have a 12 volt, 19 amp power source, the maxi fuse installed and the ignition set to accessory. Is there something I'm overlooking? The electrical diagrams aren't helping me.
OK, the book says that it connects to ground through the audio to interconnect harness, which is a 3 place Deutsch. The problem is, there is nothing to connect that to. It's in the 23 pin harness, but I don't see what it connects to.

The HK. It powered up before I disassembled the bike, but no audio. Later I discovered the second 23 pin connector was for an amp and the speaker outputs. That's what I get for relying on the book.
What "book" are you referring to, and how was it wrong?
Carl
The HD manuals, supplement and electrical diagrams. The most they did was SHOW the amp overlay harness. It doesn't say anything about it or the pinouts. I was thrown a curveball there.
OK, so after testing about a dozen things, I realized I had two connectors swapped. Apparently there are two 12-pin Deutsch connectors that are similar. Swapped them out, now have power. Now to figure out why there doesn't seem to be power to the speaker switch (at least it's not lighting up) and how to access the fader.
