Need Help/Clarification PLEASE on music system set up!!
Hello All!! I have a set up that I would like to run on my Road King, I have the "Double Up" cycle sounds 6X9 lids. I want to use the Alpine PDX-F4 four channel amp but I was told that since I am running the music through an IPOD and not using a head unit I wont get the most out of the amp. My question is am I wasting my money on buying the Alpine PDX-F4 amp and would i get the same results from a less expensive amp like the PBR- 300X4? The 6X9's that I intend to use are listed below. ANY help will be greatly appreciated!!
Four INFINITY KAPPA 693.11i 6 x 9" ran off an Alpine PDX-F4 4/3/2 Power Density Digital Amplifier connected to an IPOD.
hmm.. kinda at a loss for words for whomever told you that!
What difference does it make that you're not using an actual head unit? A source input is a source input. Worst case scenario is that the output voltage on the iPod being pretty low might not give as much volume as a head unit will but that's easily remedied by a line driver such as this one from walmart
That was my though, the head unit would just give me "better control" on volum and sound setting which I think I could use a crossover for. This information cam from my local stereo shop, its always hard to beleive anything from large storefronts it always seems like they are trying to push somthing they have on you rather than what you want or even good information for that matter.
What about the amp question, I dont like to compare items to each other just based on price so I would want to get what would work best for my application??
I am NOT an expert at this at all so I appreciate the feed back.
man that PBR300x4 don't even come close to performing the way that PDX amp does. Stick to your guns and you'll have a happy outcome.. If you don't want to give up the space for the PDX, you could always go the route of the SS PN4.520D which is a kick *** little 4 channel amp...
