I tested a newly acquired Ipod module and everything seems to be fine, except when I go to play the Ipod, I get the error message that the Ipod is not recognized. The radio will play the Ipod audio for a second or two and then revert back to FM. What could be the problem? I updated the Ipod software in the radio. Could it be a problem in the cable? Does anyone know if the saddlebag mounting kit 76000143 come with a completely new cable?
have you tried resetting the iPod itself? I believe you press the menu button and the center button at the same time until the apple logo appears. This won't erase any of your tunes..
to answer your other question about the saddlebag kit.. it's HD.. everything has to be purchased seperately.. :-)

What iPod software? I installed the module on my bike and it has worked perfectly w/o any new software. There's no mention of software in the instructions.

I tried the system with two different iPods with the same result.
UN, by "the cable needed" is it an entirely new cable or an extension for the existing one? I should have the kit on Monday, but since it takes over a weeks to get parts, I'd like to know as much as I can. I wasn't sure what the setup was and if it just adds to the existing cable, I may be stuck buying a new one, if that is the problem. I know someone has the troubleshooting steps in their '11 or later SE Service Supplement. That's the only place I could see them being.
I'm just going to throw this out there, because you haven't mentioned what model of iPods you have tried. There are several posts out there where people have reported similar problems. Apparently, the HD iPod interface was designed with the nano in mind, and some have experienced compatibility problems with other iPod versions. I don't know why that should make a difference, but there were enough posts on the subject that it seemed legit. Other than that, double check all of your connections, especially between the HU and the interface itself and make sure they are secured with no bent pins. Hope you figure it out.

I have the iPod Nano as well as the iPhone 4 I tried out with the system. I'm hoping someone can post the troubleshooting steps for this error. Perhaps the cable I'm expecting on Monday will solve this, but it's better to post it for the good of others.
