Default CVO Speaker Lids Question

Gents,
I posted this in the touring section and did not get any responses so, I should have probably posted it here. You guys already answered the first half of my old question but, I didn't get an answer for the second question. So here goes:

"My second question is for those that have CVO style saddlebag lid/speaker set ups. I use my bags for gear (as most do). My wife and I do a lot of riding when I am home. We just purchased a luggage rack and the large HD luggage bag which will free up space from the bags but, I will still want to use my bag liners. How much space will I loose if I go to the CVO speaker lids and 6x9s? I guess a better question would be, for those who have this set up are you still able to use your bags for gear?"

To add to that question, I would like to ask for insight as to where I can purchase the lids for a decent deal. Been checking ebay/craigslist but not seeing anything. I would like to stick w/ the HD CVO lids. Which amp would be recommended. From what I have been reading, looks like I will go with the Polk Audio DB691s as recommended by UltraNutz and others with experience. I would like to put the amp in the fairing if there is room. Trying to save all the room in the bags as I can.

A picture is attached of what's been installed in the fairing, which is the HTs amp and Ipod interface. It's looking kinda tight in there....CVO Speaker Lids Question-jason-todd-028.jpg

Thanks in advance for any insight yall can provide.

The CVO lids are 5x7 in fact. However Biketronics makes a kit BT479 that allows the installation of 6x9s. They do not sell the adapter plates seperately so you'll have to go with the Biketronics HAT 6x9 which are a good speaker. I know the price on the website is $499 but Bill is selling those at a MUCH better price if you pick up the phone and call him.

As for your initial question of lost space, it's negligible at best. You have the depth of the 6x9 and that's pretty much it. I have the HD liners in my bags and both bags are pretty much full all the time.

PS...I don't think that ANYONE has recommended these speakers. It's the MM651's that ULtraNutz liked/likes....

Can you tell us what amp that is, what speakers are mounted in the fairing, do you have rear speakers now, and what bike you have

still like them very much and still recommend them.. just been kinda gun shy with these guys that are buying these things and them having issues with the tweeters staying in place. Been running mine (several pair) for several years and love them.. never had any issues with them.

Maybe I will have to find a way to use some adhesive to give additional support.

That is the Hog Tunes 70.2 amp, Hog Tunes speakers and tweeter pod out front on my 2007 Street Glide. No rear speakers as of yet. I saw the HT speaker lids and they are similar to the CVO style lids from what I could see on ebay pics. It almost looks like you can use any 6x9 and use the HD speaker lids w/HD logo.

My fault. Thought I read about the 6x9s somewhere with his support as well. I tried reading all I could find in the Touring section and here...

I will have to make that call. The asking price on line is way too much for me to spend on 6x9s. That's good to hear about the available space. That was always the biggest deterrent for me. I like being able to use my bags... Thanks for the info!

You can get these for less than the price of those speakers!
