I want to upgrade my stock stereo sound. The stock setup is ALMOST good enough, until I need to turn up the volume at higher speeds. I would like to upgrade one component at a time until I like how it sounds. I am not an audiophile so my guess is I probably will be fine with just a speaker upgrade. (I only want the 2 speakers in the fairing, no more.)
My question: how much of an improvement will I experience if I pull the stock speakers and change them out for Biketronics BT7P1, and keep the existing head unit? Is this a waste of time? Will I definitely end up amping and buying a new head unit? I really don't want to have to go that far since I am almost fine with the stock setup.
I cant comment on the biketronics you mention but I did replace my speakers with hogtunes in all 4 corners along with a tweeterpod, MUCH better than the stock speakers. I have not added an amp and it is loud enough to make your ears ring,lol.. Was worth the 300 I have invested so far. My next step might be an amp down the road but I am happy so far.

Denver Dave. These speakers will be a DRASTIC improvement over stock and you'll be happy with but keep in mind they are 4 ohm speakers which means you'll end up turning your volume control on the head unit up a little more to achieve the same volume you would utilizing a 2 ohm speaker. So for instance right now with your stock head unit; There are 17 bars of volume max. lets say you listen to your tunes now at bar 12. You would wind up turning the head unit up to maybe 15 to achieve the same sound level. This is not a big deal and IMO this sets the stage later on for adding a good amp such as the PBR300x2 or the PN2.350D. The amps are inexpensive, easy to install, no stock wiring to cut, and you'll certainly be impressed. There is absolutely no need to change the head unit at all, regardless of whether you go with an amp or not.
