Do I need anything else to hook all this up? Like maybe some type of mount for the amp? Other than just normal wiring stuff.
Boy have things changed from an underdash Jensen FM/cassette player and some basic 6X9s! Opened up the Polk box and WTH is a "crossover"? Wow.

Biketronics BT7P1 7.1" fairing speakers
Polk Audio MM651 tourpak pod speakers
This setup will run you less than $550 however I have to tell you anything that requires a little more effort than simply plug-n-play is going to be your best route.
I do however suggest (unless you just want to do it all) you simply replace the fairing speakers first with the BT7P1. This might be all you need to satisfy your audio requirements. Again if you want something that will rock and for a reasonable amount of $, the above option is what I'd go for.
I have all the stuff mentioned, but keep seeing that Polk seems to be having issues. Now I'm second guessing my decision to use them. Will any of the biketronics speakers fit in the factory tour pac boxes? If so, which ones?
I see that they have the box and speaker kits for $399, just wondering which speakers they use.
Also, do I need some kind of bracket/mount for the amp?

The polks did (and might) still have issues with the glue on the tweeter stalks. They are great speakers and yours might be fine. Only one way to find out.... Just install them and keep the rear gains down. Shouldn't be over the 10-O'clock position.
None of the BT speakers will fit in the stock rear pods. BT sells a set of replacement pods that hold their 7.1's but it's a pricey set.
As for the amp, you might be able to get by without one if you don't have any modules on top of the radio. If you do they will have to be relocated to underneath the head unit. There's a forum member here that made a custom bracket for just this reason. You can email him at s.ezzell@me.com. Think the bracket is $60 shipped.
