Default Need advice prior to ordering components

I am planning on getting some stuff for my system through best buy due to lots of space on the cc. I was thinking the infinity Kappas. They are $250 at BB.

Are these going to work?

As far as head unit I am thinking one of the Sony's. I am going get a PBR 300x2 and have a custom bracket for it already. Nutz, tell me waht to get from here. I am clueless with Audio.

the infinity's are good speakers although sensitivity rating is a little low but you'll be able to compensate for that with the amp you're going with so really no big deal there sir.

As for head units, it's pretty much wide open in what you want/need as far as feature set is concerned. If you want CD playing ability then I would try to find a head unit with 4v RCA outputs. If you'll be playing MP3s only then I'd take a look at the DSX-S310 BTX or the 210. the only difference between the two units is bluetooth.

Don't forget your 6.5" speaker adapter rings.

I got the Biketronics kit for the install with the adapter for the hand controls. All that is left to order is the adapter rings now. Does it matter which I get for a Road Glide? I had teh Arc Audio rings on the last RG and there was a portion of teh ring that had to be trimmed for teh fairing to fit properly. The original owner did not trim them and cracked part of the inner fairing. Please let me know which i should get and then all I avhe to do is wait for arrival for everything.

Aside from teh install kit for the amp (which I am not sure I need but I ordered what else am I going to need to have on hadn to get this done?

Here is what I am using
Sony head unit
Infinity Kappa 6.5's
RF PBR 300x2
Custom made RG fairing mount for amp
amp install kit
Biketronics retro radio install kit

need to order
Adapter rings

Anything I am missing here? Fuse for the amp?

I do believe that regardless of which adapter manufacturer you use you're going to have to trim them as outlined in the instructions. I found the Dragonfly adapters easier to trim than the ARC adapters. Actually ARC adapters call for you cutting something off the inner fairing and I wasn't about to do that! So I used some DF adapters I had then I only had to trim the fins on the ring itself.

You're good with what you have. Add some polyfil around those infinitys to tighten up that bass response. 12x12" square 3 layers thick. with the roadies you have to secure it some kind of way. Zip ties are probably best. The fuse you need should be in the amp install kit. If it's larger than 30A don't use it. Get a 30A.

which head unit did you choose to go with? if it's one that has 2v RCA outputs you'll probably find that you need to whack off the RCA inputs on the amp and run your speaker wires from the headunit into the amp instead of using RCAs. If it has 4v outs you should be fine.

It looks like Dragon fly adapters is what I will order. Let me know if I use RCA's or the other way you mentioned please and thanks for all the help.

It's easy enough to change after the fact if you find you're not getting enough gain adjustability so try the RCAs first.

but with 2v RCA outputs I would probably whack off the RCA inputs on the amp and use the speaker wires from the radio to the speaker wire inputs on the amp. When/if you do this you will NOT need a remote input wire so make sure you disconnect it as it will feed voltage back into your electrical system once you turn the bike off. The speaker wire inputs sense the voltage coming down the speaker wire inputs and will turn itself off and on automatically.

The biketronics kit did not come with a tray for the radio. Do I need a separate tray? I am not getting the radio direct from Biketronics. If it is easier to get it from them I will return the other. Thanks for all the help thus far.

you shouldn't have any problem getting 4 or 5 layers of the thin polyfil around those speakers. If you're using the thicker polyfil, only use 1 layer.
