I have installed a Kicker amp on my street glide. The factory radio to the Kicker amp then to a pair of J&M roker 7 1/4 speakers. The problem is at 1/2 volume it sounds ok but anything over that it sounds terrible. I have adjusted the gain and checked everything else...........
set bass and treble on radio to flat (that would be the middle)
turn amp gains all the way down
drop in a CD and turn radio up til you hear distortion then back it off til you don't
leaving radio at that volume, now turn gains up til you hear distortion and then back it down a little.
now your gains are set.
I suspect your issue of "clarity" is not your amp or your head unit.
