Are the BT7p1 Proline speakers and the BT4180.14 amp worth the extra money? I have a 2014 Ultra which I've made in an Ultra glide. I want to add an amp and will be running most of the time with a tour pak and the rear speakers but when the wife isn't tagging along will take it off. They have a kit for $1,389.85 which is the proline speakers and the 4180 amp. I know they give a forum discount but would like the ability to add lowers later if I want. What speakers should I put in the rear pods? Thanks

Nice looking bike!!!
The BT Pros will probably won't sound that much better than the non-pros running off of the BT amp. The Pros need more power to really shine. In that price range check out the Focal 165KRC speakers or the new version Focal EC165. They KRC's have been discontinued and can be found at a discount price. Check with LL247 for a price, he's a Focal, Arc, Hertz, etc dealer here on the forum. Or check at Crutchfield. With the BT4180 or the Arc Moto 600.4 amps for that matter you can run two pair of speakers off of the front channel in parallel as long as they are the same speaker or another speaker with a sensitivity rating very close.
As or the rears TP pods, if you want bass go with the Moto 602, or you want bright go with the BT6.5's. Both these speakers will need spacers to install. V-twin Audio has a spacer and grill kit that will work. If you want a dropin pair of speaks go with the Polk mm651 speakers.
These are suggestions and there are several more speakers and amps to choose from.
I feel like I'm about to take a beating for asking this question but here goes. I have a 14 Limited. When I upgraded the audio right away, Boom was the simplest option with the new head unit. I have all Boom Stage 1 original amps and speakers. 2 amps, 8 speakers. I've stayed up with the latest flashes and it sounds pretty good IMO, however I had my front lower speaker stop working. Upon further investigation, the woofer just stopped getting a signal...the tweeter was still working fine. My dealer warrantied it (I'm shocked as well) and so I will have a replacement in 4 days. My question is now that I'm in this deep on all this boom gear, am I stuck with it? Could I put different 6.5's and still use the boom amps? If that's even possible, what steps would I have to take? I'm not certain if this "line leveler" is compatible with the HD Boom amps with a different manufacturer of speaker. I'm 100% certain that there are better speakers out there (and amps) but I'm in pretty deep with the current setup and I don't hate it....I also have nothing to compare it to. Would appreciate any input. thanks guys.

yes you can put different 6.5" but because of the amps, you need to make sure you select a 2 ohm speaker so it will match what the amp was designed to output as for power.
*EDIT*
oh, and any aftermarket speaker is going to require an adapter for the fairing, not sure about the lowers, and likely for the rear pods as well. You should be able to bolt up just about any aftermarket 5x7 to the lid adapters.
I might point this out too. If you're referring to the Boom Audio Stage II setup with 2 amps and 8 speakers - that is one pretty awesome sounding setup.
If this is the stage I stuff, then I can see why you'd want to change it.

its stage 1 because I couldn't fit four amps on the bike and maintain a detachable tourpak, which I hardly every remove anyways, but still. So any speaker will pop in? The fairing adaptor is for fitment, correct? I need nothing additional...as long as I get them to fit, they will receive the strange Boom signal just fine? I thought the whole pain about upgrading the speakers is because HD made it so only the boom speakers would work with this system. This opens up a new world! Thank you UN.
sorry wasn't thinking about it being a 14 model so for fairing adapters you have 2 choices, either mount the 6.5" inside the pods that are there now or buy the biketronics brackets and use those instead of the pods.
here's a video on using an aftermarket speaker with the stock pods.
nothing additional is needed.
audio signal to speakers is fine
the whole boom audio thing and being proprietary is more because of the head unit to the amps and the canbus signals between them. amp to speakers is the same as any other amp.
Please don't blast me telling me to search. I have, couldn't find this problem. My radio will change from XM to FM while driving down the road. Any one else seen this problem?

Mine, at times, will kick from USB or FM over to the WB and I'm running 1.19.2 (for the time being...plan on going back to 1.19.0)
And there aren't any weather emergencies either.
