Ultra,
Man I really like the idea of the 4180, the 7.1s and the 6.5s from biketronics but it would be twice as much as the rf amps and polks. I like the warranty from biketronics. Also the 7.1s. Man I'm torn. Do you install the 4180 over the radio? What about the 2180 and running the speakers in parallel? What are your thoughts on that vs the rf amps? I should mention that I'm doing bars at the same time (only want to tear it apart once) so the extra cash is on top of what I'm spending on that.

Sorry jmjohn I have listened to a similar jm setup and the sound was not my cup of tea

If you are only running 2 sets of speakers, one for the fairing and one for the lowers, use the 2180 and run then in parallel. You can do the same with a tour pack but you lose the ability to fade.

I don't want to hijack this thread or anything but can someone explain why the Soundstream amp doesn't allow you to keep FM? and by FM I would assume you're talking about the radio frequencies...

Because the power supply creates interference right in the center of the FM band that stations transmit on. Add that to the proximity they are installed to the head unit, and you lose all reception.

Interesting, what makes the RF amps any different? Similar power supply and still mounted in the fairing. Just curious, thanks for the info!

I agree with Pioneer74 on the 2180 in parallel on 2 pair of 4 ohm speakers. Works great and sounds great.

The FM interference issues surrounding Class D amps that are known to hinder FM reception are not relevant to the RF series of PBR amps. Totally different power supply circuitry and technology.

Ok, I think my mind is made up! Going with the bt2180 and the 7.1s and the 6.5s in the lowers run in parallel. Now a few more questions.
  1. Will that amp fit over the radio in the RG or do I need to buy a bracket? I was going with hawgwired brackets with the rf amps since there were two of them and also for airflow. I had an arc amp in my streetglide and I just had it velcroed to the top of the radio and it did great for 4 years and 50,000 miles.
  2. Will this amp kill the FM as well?
  3. Are the grills that come with the 7.1s nice?
  4. Do I need to get a wiring kit for power etc?

Thanks again for the help!!!!

1. perfectly. no other brackets needed. Everything needed for the install will come with the amp.
2. negative. However Bill has seen a couple do this but they correct the issue by swapping the amp.
3. you want to retain your stock grills as the 7.1" do not come with grills nor would they fit if they did. Bill might have something for a fairing grill but if he doesn't there are a ton out there aftermarket.
4. everything you need to install the amp is included with the amp.

you'll enjoy that setup very much so!

2 week backlog on the 7.1 speakers, I put my order in last Thursday. I also got a 2180 amp to supply the speakers
