Hello folks, i need some input on power distribution for multiple amps. I'm currently running a RF PBR300x2 amp in the fairing with 10awg wire run directly to the battery. I am planning on adding another amp in the fairing and one in the tourpak. Any recomendations on distribution blocks, wire guage size and block placement would be great.
I'm not sure if it would be better to mount a 3 way block near the battery location and run everything from there or would it be better to mount a 2 way block near the battery to split the fairing and tourpak and then another 2 way in the fairing to run the 2 amps.
Will the 10awg wire i already have run to the fairing support the splitter with 2 amps or do i need to change this wire? Also, where should i place fuses and what ratings?
here is my distribution block mounted right next to the fuse panel. You want to keep your wiring to a minimum at all costs. more wiring = more chances for problems.
run a 4ga wire from the distribution block to an AGU fuse rated to handle all 3 amps. Then each wire running to each amp, fuse it for the rated power of the amp.
ground distribution is on the ABS side of the bike mounted underneath the ABS tray.
power - dbLink Power Distribution block located at fuse box on 2012 FLHTK.
ground - dbLink ground distribution block located under ABS module tray. you can see the ground wire from battery on the back side of this ground distribution block. I used doublestick tape and (2) very short phillips head screws
you mention adding 2 amps. which 2 amps?

I'm thinking 2 more RF's. I thought about the SS amp but i do listen to the radio on occasion. I'm still on the fence about my final design. I just purchsed the cvo speaker pods for the lower fairing. I'm using the polk mm651's in the fairing and i think i want to stick with those in the lowers and the tourpak pods also. I dont have any plans to do bag lids but you know how that goes......lol. I have a sony dual coil 8" sub i thought about maybe putting in one of the bags but im not sure if it's worth the trouble.
So 4awg wire from the battery to the block and then 10awg from the block to the amps? When you say rated power do you mean how much power the amp draws?

When I get around to doing the lids on the 08 SG I'll be needing a second amp and this look like it will work nicely.
Nutz is that 10 gauge on the power side for feeds?
I know a lot of guys will run 10 instead of 8 because the runs are short

yes sir 10ga it is. I don't have a problem using 10ga wire for anything I'm doing on these bike because the wire I buy is about 10 strands of solid core wire instead of 100s of fine strands. Plenty of wire to carry 80+ amps which you'll never even come close to on these bikes.
