I'm asking for help if someone knows about compatability problems between the various versions of the CB modules and particular year HK radios.
I added an HK Advanced audio to my 2001 EG classic, after I had Iron Cross flash it to work with my bike (turn on intercom, fader, analog AVC, etc.).
The CB module (76236-06C) I bought off ebay isn't recognized by the CAN bus, and the radio nag says "option not installed, see dealer", but I know it should auto detect. The CB connector has both good power and CAN bus confirmed. (my XM functions fine using it)
Before I bug Tony over at Iron Cross I wanted to ask if anyone knows of an issue mating older HK radios from days when the CB modules were -06A, -06B with a newer version CB module? HD webpage says the newer CB modules are backwards-compatible. If they really are then I guess I bought a dud.
I really don't want to think someone just sold me a dead module!
Oh, and I cracked the CB mod open to see if there was a blown fuse, a burnt component or something easy, but alas no such luck.
Hey I took a shot on ebay for $50 and got burned. I figure I'm good for 5 more tries until I give up and pay full retail for brand new. The cheap man spends the most, right? I don't believe that for a second.
Besides, I'm not cheap, I'm just a keen student of the dollar.
