Hey guys I just had a few questions that I was hoping someone may be able to help me with. This past weekend I received my speaker and amp package from biketronics and installed it. The problem i came across was that when I tried to start he bike it was dead. So i checked the voltage and it was fine and ended up having to replace fuses. So I did that and it fired right up. Well Now the fade control no longer woks on the stock head unit. So I wait till Monday to call bill at biketronics and we determine that the head unit must have just taken a dump(its only 6 months old) on the left side. So I say ok And order a sony hu through them. Well I go to start the bike and its dead again. Do u guys thinks something is killing the battery or is that just a bunch of coincidences. (I have never had an issue with the battery prior to my attempt at upgrading the stereo)
year, model, mileage,
how old is the battery?
have you checked all ground and power wires?
are fuses blown again?
when you say you have it connected to cigarette lighter what specifically are you referring to?

Hey Ultranutz my bike is a 09 flht and the battery is the same as when i bought the bike. I have had it for 2 years and now have about 60k on the odometer. The fuses seem fine however no power. I went to get the battery charged and will reinstall it to see if it loses power and if it does i will have to buy a new one but worried about t killing a new one if thats the case. I connected the amp remote turn on to the back of the power out(cigerette outlet) Thank you for the help

yeah first thing would be to have that battery load tested. It might still be perfectly good. My rule of thumb is 3 years. if the battery is still acting fine in 3 years, I replace it anyways. $100 for a battery vs the consequences if it fails on you out on the road is worth that sanity to me. Unless you trust your local HD service folks to not just try and sell you a battery, I'd take it to some place like AutoZone, O'Reilly, or Advanced Auto to have it tested.
If the battery tests fine, you need to start looking at something else that would be drawing it down.
Having the amp turn on connected at the cigarette lighter is fine. It only draws about 500ma max when turning the amp on.

Well thats what I ended up trying to do but they didn't wana test at my local auto parts store but they charged it so I will see when I put it back in. It just seemed really weird and coincidental because I never had any issues with the battery before. Thanks again for taking your time to reply and for your help
