I just found a set of the Boom audio saddle bag lids on EBAY. No really what I'm looking for but the paint matches up.
My question is what speakers fit these? Will the Pioneer TSD6902R's fit? I'll transfer all my OEM latches and hinges. The grills aren't included so besides the grills what else will I need for hardware to mount speakers in them?
You have two choices with those lids considering speakers. You can get any 5x7 to fit, or you can go with Biketronics 6x9's. They have adaptor played to make them work.
I've read the Pioneers perform just as well. Let me ask if there is a good performing 5x7 that you could recommend. I would be using a PBR300x2 to power them.
My current plan is Hogtune lids (need to get painted), the above mentioned PBR, and the TSD6902R's.
My only suggestion is do it right the first time. If your plan is to get the hogtunes lids then get those.... They hold 6x9. The reason for the biketronics is weather proof and lifetime warranty. Pioneers no weather resistance and no warranty.
Spend your money once the right way, don't ask me how I know.... Audio is a illness....

+1...I have the BT 7.1's in fairing and Hogtunes lids with the BT 479's powered by a BT 4180 amp, and am very happy. Been through Fosgate, J&M, and Focal and wish I'd done current system first....BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE...
Probably the way to go. I hear what guys are saying about the BT6x9's but aside from weather proof they seem to be comparable. Also I've read the Pioneers have better bass response.
Even if I got caught in a flood or blew them up I could buy 6 pairs of the Pioneers compared to the BT's.
