Default Speaker question

Ok I have questions. Maybe someone can answer them.

I am looking to install a set of speakers in my saddle bags on my street glide and I am sure I am over thinking it. First off would two 6x9s in each side be over kill? Will two do the trick? With four speakers in the lids are they going to be heavy? I get ohms to a point, but if I run the two speakers on each side with the wires done correctly I could power them all with a PBR300 x 2 amp right? Is will I need to upgrade my alternator to power the two amps, and has anybody been able to mount two amps in a Batwing fairing?

I am thinking Rockford is the way to go with this, unless you have better ideas. Cheap is preferable if quality is good.

There are a couple guys on here that run 4 6x9's facing the wheels... from what I gather in that position they are mainly for Bass.

Will two do the trick?

Alot of us are runing the Hogtunes lids which are a 2 speaker setup with great results... They are well built and have drain channels for rain water.
With four speakers in the lids are they going to be heavy?

I dont have first hand experience but an average 6x9 proboaly weighs 6-7 lbs (x2) 12-14lbs (per side) I would say yes.

One amp for each side or one amp for all 4 speakers?

Is will I need to upgrade my alternator to power the two amps,

I dont belive the guys that are running multi amp mulit 6x9's have done anything to their stock charging system... I could be wrong.
and has anybody been able to mount two amps in a Batwing fairing?

Hogtunes has a second amp bracket that is designed just for that.

I am personally a big fan of RF... There are better speakers im sure but for the price with the qualities that I was looking for and the reputation... RF was an easy choice for me.
I'm sure there are many opinions on this with a little searching you may find some additional points that I missed.

Lots of folks run (4) 6x9s in the bags so that's not an issue. Me personally because of the weight would not run 2 in each lid. 1 quality 6x9 is a lot of weight. I would go with the Hogtunes 6x9 lids, 1 6x9 in the lid, 1 6x9 facing inwards. Wire them up in parallel yes and you could run them on a PBR300x2 with no problem. However, keep in mind a quality 6x9 is going to want some power behind them. I would look into something like the PN4.520D amp ($117) which will provide 100w x 4 @ 4 ohms. There are a couple of other good amps out there in 4 channel configuration. The newest being the Rockford Fosgate T400 series but a bit pricey @ $499.

For the lids I'd go with something like the BT BT479 6x9 or the RF T1692 because of the sealed woofer/bridged tweeter and then the Pioneer TS-D6902R for the inside of the bags to round out your bass.
