Default RF PBR300x4 Cutting Out

I've had a PBR300x4 running in my RK for about 9 months now. Started acting up where the music would momentarily cut out every so often.

I investigated and noticed the main B+/GND/ACC connection was charred. I am running an 8ga cable straight off the battery post. I cleaned up the connector, working good again. Problem I see is that the little hole to insert the end of the wire at the connector is only big enough for about 12ga of wire.

What are you guys doing for power connection to the RF amps?

I use solid stranded 10ga wire for everything audio on a bike. There is absolutely no reason to use anything bigger. IMO and IME, all it does is make for a more troublesome install.

Jawhawk ,,,,,

as U/N said previously ,,,, 10ga power and ground wires for that amp are plenty big ,,,,,

but a loose connection can cause arcing and other ugly issues ,,,,,

Found the problem. Power wire was exiting amp at almost 90deg angle, bumping up against frame which was putting pressure on the connector and coming loose due to vibration. I rerouted power cables to relieve the stress on the connector. Thanks.

I like to "tin" the wires with a little solder before running the set screw down, seems to make a better contact, IMO. Glad you found the issue...

I do the same thing on the terminal type connections and a dab of blue Loctite for good measure to keep them from backing out.
