I just upgraded my stereo on my Street Glide and am now running into a problem ... I upgraded my head unit to an aftermarket kenwood and added a 400watt Rockford Fosgate to run (2) 6.5s and (2)6x9s ...
After taking the bike off the battery tender and ride my bike for about an hour and turn off my bike I dont have enough power to turn the bike back over. I think it may be a bad battery (its 5 years old), but has anyone ever ran into this?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions? I was probably going to get the cycle gear battery that comes with the lifetime warranty...
Just a coincidence.....5 years is about the average for a battery. I replaced mine with another 'factory' battery from my local cycle shop, and haven't had any problems for a few years. Haven't heard of the lifetime warranty battery...
What he said^^^^. Also, I had issues out of mine too...but i think it had more to do with me draining it constantly over the course of a few months while I was toying around with different amps. I ended up with the Drag Specialties 500 CCA battery and so far so good.

The lifetime warranty is about 5 years. . . . Can you say prorated? LMAO!!
We have relied on Interstate Batterys here now for almost 2 decades.

Was just on the phone with them and they are giving me a pretty good deal on a there upgraded 500cca battery ... may go that rout since my work has an account with them and they have done us pretty well.
agree that is probably your battery, but not sure how much amperage your audio system is drawing but at best it will take longer to charge the battery, if your charging system is unable to keep up with the drain the audio system takes you may end up with a dead battery if the bike isn't ridden long enough to charge it back up. If that system draws more amps than your alternator produces a higher capacity battery will let in run longer but its still gonna go dead after you use the audio for a while.

At five years a new battery is probably in order. I have a two year old BatteriesPlus battery and was having starting issues. I charged it and took it in for testing. It was putting out 600 cca, not bad for a 400 cca battery. The one thing I found helped my starting is turning off the radio. Seems the draw from the sound system makes starting the bike more difficult. I'm running a BT4180 to two 7.1's & two 6x9's.
