At five years a new battery is probably in order. I have a two year old BatteriesPlus battery and was having starting issues. I charged it and took it in for testing. It was putting out 600 cca, not bad for a 400 cca battery. The one thing I found helped my starting is turning off the radio. Seems the draw from the sound system makes starting the bike more difficult. I'm running a BT4180 to two 7.1's & two 6x9's.
Im was running TWO amps at one point (Rokker 500w 4 channel and PBR 300x2), a pair of tweeters, pair of 6.5s, two pair of 6x9s, and lights and never had a problem starting....until the battery eventually took a crap.

Hey I'm just going by my experience. I was leaving the radio on and sometimes I was wondering if it was going to crank, started turning it off before I shut the bike down and starting isn't a problem. I have 10.5:1 comp & releases, but sometimes it just didn't want to do it until I started shutting the sound system down.
Anti-Gravity Lithium Batteries or Ballistic. Yep they are expensive but the best batteries on the market. Have the Anti Gravity in my SG and haven't had any issues running the system and it cranking right up.
Ive used Odyssey batteries and my last 2 i got 7 yrs on them. I totally agree with Glacierpearl , a battery tender is the main add on to make any battery last alot longer.

Yeah I agree with turning it off. After I fried my last battery and the H-D clowns not wanting to replace it (says that its a certain time that you get a free replacement), I ended up going with the drag specialties battery. Now, unless im showing the tunes off to someone who is curious, I turn the stereo off as soon as I get off the bike. Not buying another $200 battery....at least not anytime soon.
