I have a quick question, everything is hooked up but when I use the hand control the volume keeps going up after I release if I push down the volume goes down but when I release it starts going up by itself. What would the problem be???

When everything is connected and programmed as per Metra, it works. Thread is full of people who swore they did everything correctly, and numerous times. . I know, I was one. Re-read the instructions, and the thread, check and recheck your work.

Sorry, that's all I got.

OK, I have the following:

- Sony MEX-XB100BT (as per axxess website, this unit has been tested with ASWC-1)
- Metra ASWC-1 (updated to the latest firmware)
- Metra 99-9600 (the new version)

The Sony comes with the following wires...

The Sony is connected to the bike and is alive, I followed AAWAV manual for the connections...

- Red Metra to Red HU wire
- Black Metra wire to Black HU wire
- Yellow Metra wire to HU Yellow wire
- 3.5 jack to the back of the HU
- Cut the Pink/White wire (handlebar side) in the bike and connect to Metra Pink/White wire, the other end is tapped off (ungrounded)

I follow the Auto Detect Programming from AAWAV manual, everything goes well as per the steps in the manual expect step no. 6, here the ASWC-1 flashes red 11 times, then there is a solid red light stays on.

Note: In Step No. 5, only the 5th green led flashes long, the rest are short flashes.

I turn off the bike and turn it on, upon tuning on the bike, the ASWC-1 flashes green light one time and then goes off, and the result is, there is no control from the handlebar at all.

As per the manual, for Sony HU step no. 6 should flash red light 4 times, but in my case it flashes 11 times which refers to Metra OE.

Here is a short video of the process...

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi iMak...

I do think you connected to the wrong side of the cut pink/white...
when you connect the P/W to the the bike harness P/W from the Metra you should be able to follow into your handlebar.
My "manual" might be a bit confusing as I cut the wire AFTER the connector looking from the handlebar side.
when cutting BEFORE the connector you need to connect to the P/W wire NOT connected to the connector anymore.
When cutting AFTER the connector you need to connect to the P/W wire that IS connected to the connector.

I attached another schema.

I knew my wiring was correct because I followed the instructions very carefully and used some common sense.

But something was hidden which kept me awake till 2.00 am. However, one email to Metra Tech Support and in less than 24 hrs a reply received from Anthony...

Hello,
With that Sony MEX radio going into the menu and set the steering wheel controls to external. Then reset the ASWC-1.

Setting steering wheel control to external in the Sony and reset the ASWC-1 solved everything, all buttons seems working fine. I will try to capture a short video and share it with you.

Is it a good idea to place the ASWC-1 module somewhere accessible instead of placing it inside the fairing? For instance, left of the bike in the opening near the air temperature sensor. I think it's good incase it's needed to be reset or programmed via computer. What do you think?
