Hk reception

Hey. i need some advice on my hk set up. 09 classic. A few years ago i took out the stock antenna cable and tried an under the fairing one with mixed results so i decided to put the stock cable back in. meanwhile, my radio went south and had it replaced with a rebuilt one. i have the same set up in the rear as a street glide with the short antenna but can.t get the same reception as my buddys 08 glide. his works better without the antenna than mine with one. if i grab the antenna the local station comes in much better. is there and adjustment on them to tune in local stations. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

Is your antenna grounded? It needs to be bonded to the bike.

Although I didn't have any reception issues to start with, I switched to this hidden antenna, which gets consistent high reviews in these forums, and get even better reception than I did with the stock short antenna:
