My 72 hour work weeks kinda have me tied down !! UGH !!!!!!!!!
jeez GP. I try to keep mine under 50 these days. Being salaried I get paid the same if I work 30 or if I work 60, funny how I never get 30 hour work weeks tho
I really wish someone local was available to help me with this....Frustrating to say the least
What happened to Derk?? Sounded like you guys were on the same page. No worries Satchmo . . . Your not that far away from a great sounding system. I'm thinking it's just needs dialed in. What HU are you running? High level or low level input? Where do you have your gains set on the amp and how far are you from Indianapolis?
Gannicus, Have not heard back from Derk....I have the stock HU from HD 2010 Ultra Limited...Not sure what ya mean High Level or Low Level input and buddy dialed in the gain, so not sure....About 2 hrs from Indy in Urbana, ohio

Need to run that amp off the speaker inputs (High level) with the stock HU. The X2 doesn't like low level inputs (RCA's) with the stocker. The gains are going to be set around 6 or 7 to get decent sound out of those 7.1's with the stock HU due to the 2V pre outs on the HU. Ask your buddy how he wired it up and we will go from there. The immediate problem that sticks out in my mind is the stock HU. Hard to dial that thing in without distortion when you turn it up past the halfway point. Especially with the premium speakers you have. Those speakers need a dam good signal and they need some power. You will get it to sound decent with the X2 but you won't optimize those speakers with the stock HU. Others may disagree but I beat my head against the wall for almost a whole winter trying to optimize that set up. Only difference was I had the Titan II speakers.
I would ride ti Indy if had to..I know we cut wires going to speakers and ran that thru the amp.....I will pull fairing and check gain..What HU would ya recommend ??

I'd meet you half way Satch . . But it's raining to beat hell right now and I just got off a 12 hour shift. Most frustrating thing in the world is for your tunes on your bike to suck. Trust me I've been there and it's a bad feeling. . . You won't rest until you get it right! ask me how I know. . . LOL. Sounds like you are running off the speaker inputs if you cut the RCA's off the X2. Plenty nice HU's out there. These two are my favorites:
I didn't mean ride today...LOL...YES it DOES suck to have this $$$ tied up and it still sounds like crap...Yes did cut the RCA's off...I will check the gain like I said...But would come to Indy to have someone tell me what is wrong....Plus easy ride anyway....Hopefully once I turn the gain up...hopefully it is not cause it sounds like crap...what are your bass and tremble at normally ??? AVC off on ??
So one round of my stereo was similar to your setup (different speaker is all). Here are somethings to check
1) Are +/- matching from headunit to speakers? Meaning are your speakers in phase?
2) Make sure amp is set to AP
3) Set amp to about 5.5 or 6 to start with
4) Use something with good overall sound to test/setup with. IE not rap, not pop, not new R&B. Something with good mix of bass and treble and not over compressed.
Starting with those you should be able to see some improvement.
