Please Help! - Issues with S&S Supper E
I am new to this forum and was hoping that I could get some solid help with an issue I am having with an S&S Super E. I have an 86 sporty that we bought to build. It was running decent when we bought it then tore it down to build. It is now all back together and looks great however when I go to tune the carb in I have issues. We did nothing to the motor except take it out of the frame and clean it up. I can get the thing to get close to idle however when I push the rpm's up it is very very slow to come back to idle. It is not in the cables as they return as they should. I have brand new intake gaskets in the thing (which where very hard to install - tight fit I should say).I have no idea how the carb can maintain such a high idle when the throttle is returned to closed. My thought is that there is still an "air -in" leak or that there may be an issue with the vacuum system however I wanted to see if I could get some trouble shooting advice before I tear back into the thing. PLEASE HELP! I need to get this things tuned in and up for sale. Thanks

make sure that there is slack(a little) in both throttle, and return cable.
look at the throttle plate in the carb.
adjust idle screw in, and out to see if the throttle plate moves with the screw.
