Default Ruin my carb ?

Good day everybody, I'm new in Harley and I just bought a SLX Roadster 1982, 1000cc. I want to say, my english is not so excellent because I'm french. It's the first time I bought an Harley, even a bike since 30 years. I'm now 52, and the fixing aspect of it challenge me.
The problem was the carb, a B83F, I open it and the accelerator pump was broke. So I change it and, put everything back. But I push my luck to much.
I follow the instructions on the tread : tuning a keihin carb butterfly...
So I open the SMALL round plate on the carb to have a better tuning. It's look like I ruined it. Because the small plate on mine is a fuel link to the carb center or something like that. No screw there to adjust !
I first put a reply after the last reply on the post but didn't receive an answer.
Now I'm looking to buy a Mikuni vm38-9 carb. But to install it on mine, I have two cables for acceleration insted of one. Is it a problem to fix it or is it better for me to put a hsr42 with the dual cable ? And if it's easy to put the vm38-9 is it also easy to put the flat tm38-86 and tune it ? Thank you very much for your answer and your patience for me. Benoit
