Default leaking fuel line

Got ready to go to town and went in garage and got a strong smell of gas.I immediately looked at my 69 chevy and thought that was the culprit. But no glanced at the WG and noticed the floor was wet WTF . So I get to looking at it and it is leaking from the quick connector on bottom of tank.Bike is 05 FXDWGI so I put some floor dry down and try and wipe off what I can ,thank god I only had about 1/4 tank in it.Why would this just start leaking never had the tank off or anything to do with the connection.I am hoping it's just a o-ring any one else heard of this happening?

It happens, the dealer doesn't sell just the o-ring it's sold as an assembly. You gotta buy the o-ring they sell you for your oil changes that go on the drain plugs. Then get a pick and a flashlight... if you can do it with the tank off it's easier but it can be done with the tank on the bike. The o-ring fits in a groove inside your quick release on the tank.

Well leave it to me to screw it up,I got the o-ring out and put a new oil drain o-ring in.Leaks twice as bad a steady stream noticed the original ring was square cut on outer edge I took the o-ring back out to examine again and a smaller o-ring came out plus the check valve and the spring so now what? the smaller 1 is round shape and of course the manual does not show this break down.Oh yeah allso have the tank off now If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. Thanks for your help

OK after doing a search here I think I'm OK just would like to make sure I'm right on the o-rings.Female side the fat smaller 1 holds in the bypass valve then the thinner 1 seals the male connector.
