If you can ride it go for it. It depends what you mean by off-road? Single trail probably not, but quad trails and fire roads should be fun. In my opinion 300lbs is too heavy for a ds so a 800lb bagger would be interesting. You would also need a suspension with at least 8 inches of travel front and rear. Stock won't cut it.

and honestly, probably an MX track :P I AM that crazy lol, did it with the gold wing 1100 haha and honestly, for me the heavier the better cause i like to use my DSes as trucks lol, run over bushes and shrubs, mud, deep water, snow, and i like something that cuts the wind

I could see using a Harley mill in a custom frame (like a Champion) for dirtwork. Sure would be unusual. Since weight is your enemy, I'd suggest a Street 750 mill as it's lighter and can be tuned to outperform a big twin. Yes, it really can.

April had a 550cc v-twin that was crazy in the dirt. Too bad they took it off the market...

Because I like pushrods and I've always hated the revolution engine, if i wanted a liquid cooled DOHC motorcycle i could buy any japanese bike post 1991 lol if harley goes DOHC that'll make it official in that there isn't a single engine manufacturer that has my interest anymore. except the racing aftermarket, those guys rock lol and also, not a porsche fan lol also, thats not a harley, something that sounds that much like a..... nissan? can't be a harley lol I'd prefer the wasted spark of a knucklehead over that any day lmao an MX style knucklehead is what i might build as another personal toy but thanks! i understand most people would pic that but if i were to build the bike based on logical choices, might as well of bought a damn factory dual sport lol, I'd 100% use an 883 anytime i could though! lol now please, i beg, no one mention that waste of harley's R&D funding anymore? lol too many people have suggested or worse, just straight up told me to use that motor, if i wanted something like that i'd buy an asian model, that was the intended audience for that bike anyway (specifically india)
