1973 xlh 1000 Ironhead custom. Rear suspension options?
Hello all,
Recently I purchased a 1973 xlh 1000 ironhead sportster. This bike is in great condition. Right now Im in the process of customizing the bike to a bobber. I plan to change everything except the frame and motor. Im looking for suggestions on dropping the back end of the bike. Right now the rear suspension is 14" eye to eye. Ive thought about getting slammer shocks but also thought about bolting on struts to make it a hard tail. Im open to both options, but don't want to weld just yet in case I want to go back to shocks. Does anyone have experience with shocks on an older model like this or done a project similar? Most shocks on the market are made for later models (81+) so I don't want to order parts that wont jive with the bike.
Thanks for the suggestions!
